Reflection to the Wikipedia Tutorial activity

Reflection

The Wikipedia activity that I did was the Wikipedia Training for Students. This activity was not very eventful and a little boring. Not much was happening and the tutorial was not interesting. The Wikipedia Training had lots of information packed into boring paragraphs and bullet points. We were told to make a small edit to a page of our choosing. The edit may be a small grammatical error or a small error in information. I choose to edit on the "Ground beef" page that required lots of editing and fixing. The edit I made was to add information on the creation of ground beef.

I think that my experience was not good because the activity was not interactive and was very small. The tutorial brought information only through text and nothing else. This can make people uninterested because the reading is long and mundane. The other reason for my poor experience is because the activity is very small. This activity required us to make a small edit on a Wikipedia page. This small edit is very unimportant because it is not very notable for other people. If the edit was to find sources and make major changes or additions, this activity would be much more interesting. Another interesting way of learning how to edit in Wikipedia might be using or going through the Wikipedia Adventure. I think it is important to keep the user interested and involved when teaching them to use a new medium or new tool. This activity that I went through did not do any of that.
